Breast Cancer

I was able to be up and doing for at least part of every day during chemotherapy this summer. I spent as much time outside on these gorgeous days as I could.

I planted a small garden in the backyard even though I can't eat half of it because I'm on Coumidan to treat a major blood clotting problem.

I haven't had a garden in a bout 8 years because it took too much time from my studio work. I didn't realize how much I missed it until I started scratching around in the dirt again.  The corn and large squash plants I put in a separate garden patch over near the barn:

I put in a row of potatoes and a few onions, too. The deer have been eyeballing these greens from the edge of the field. I hope I planted enough for all of us.

And I got some baby chickens! I will be nice to have them scratching around the place again, hearing the rooster crow in the morning, and, of course, getting fresh eggs! I made their space in the barn and the run as fox-proof as I could!

Space for chickens inside the barn.

Outdoor run for chickens.

6 weeks later...!

Izzy has been overseeing my work.

And Silvie hangs out on the deck keeping an eye out for that fox.
